631-727-2881 x100 BOOK & BOTTLE: The Last Farmers of the North Fork, a book talk with author STEVE WICK Thursday, July 19, 2018 - 6:00 PM The award-winning journalist Steve Wick will discuss farmers of the North Fork, one of the oldest farming communities in the United States. Today, more than 375 years later, the descendants of the same North Fork families struggle to preserve the area’s legacy of land and hard work. Steve will discuss his 1996 acclaimed book, Heaven and Earth: The Last Farmers of the North Fork, which documents the history of farming on the North Fork by tracing the lives of two farming families, the Tuthills and the Wickhams. As relevant today as it was 20-plus years ago, Wick along with photographer Lynn Johnson have created a timeless elegy to a North Fork way of life that is in danger of disappearing. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Steve Wick, who shared in Newsday's winning of a Pulitzer Prize, is the current Executive Editor of the Times-Review Newspaper Group. He has also worked as a journalist for Newsday and is the author of several books.
