631-727-2881 “Long Island Light,” an art show featuring the work of Long Island pastel artist Lana Ballot. Known for her beautiful illumination of light, Ballot’s magnificent portraits of local landscapes, seascapes, and other places are on display in our Gish Gallery through Sept. 15. Lana’s work captures how light transforms ordinary scenes into spectacular sights of color and emotion. A Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, Ballot’s art features a confident and expressive use of color and painterly mark making. She has exhibited widely and has won awards in national and international competitions, including the Pastel Society of America’s annual show Enduring Brilliance and the Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100 competition. Lana lives and works on Long Island. In addition to her local plein air and studio classes, she travels to teach pastel workshops throughout the United States and abroad.
