Once a rural region famed for its ducks and potatoes, Long Island has carved out an outstanding wine country since 1973, rising to become a leader in the worldwide winemaking community. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: A food and wine writer, Eileen Duffy has been on the beat on Long Island’s East End since 2003. She has completed the Level 4 Diploma wine credential from the London-based Wine Spirit Education Trust, which requires two years of study, blind tastings, papers, and tests. Her book on Long Island wine, Behind the Bottle: The Rise of Wine on Long Island, is a fascinating account of the personalities and vintages that made Long Island Wine Country what it is today: a producer of world-class wine.
