Want to know more about your family history but don't know where to start? Register for our upcoming Genealogy Workshop and discover how to explore the journey into your family's German historical roots. Dr. Haberstroh will focus on how to collect clues to an ancestor's birthplace and access records from German towns. As in most European genealogy, knowing the town that an ancestor is from is the first critical step in tracking the family back through vital records. The workshop will visit various other topics, including German names and naming conventions, German script, civil vital records, church registers, and Internet sources for German genealogy.
Richard Haberstroh is an accredited genealogist who has been involved in German genealogical research in both the United States and Germany since 1984. A frequent genealogy lecturer, Richard has published a number of genealogical articles, including his family’s genealogy and short articles for the newsletter of the German Genealogy Group, of which he is a founding member. He is also the author of the book The German Churches of Metropolitan New York: A Research Guide, published by the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society.
We hope you can join us for this special event!
